Orbital Drop Shock Trooper New Mombasa Police Department

I arrived at New Mombasa Police Department not fully knowing what to expect

Upon hearing the alarm that the Covenant had arrived en masse, I quickly readied myself and made my way toward the docking bay

I decided to make my stand with a high powered sniper rifle and quickly began to pick them off as wave after unrelenting wave came storming aboard the station

When you run out of ammo you must go to the pistol and pistol often... The M6D...
A fanatic throws himself toward me as I continue to fire into his gut
These beasts are strong and firing countless rounds into him only slows him down
Finally, a well placed head shot took this zealot down for good... messy, but no time to celebrate as more are on the way...

Life aboard the Pillar Of Autumn

So I'm aboard the Space-Cruiser "Pillar of Autumn" headed for that funky space ring in the sky known as Installation 4

I was feeling a little hungry after being in cryo for so long, stopped by the mess hall and found this vending machine.  Wonder what the Chef's Surprise could be?

Hey!   Found a bulletin board! Check this out, my favorite band is playing later... Fist Of The Unicorn

Yeah, that's no cat!  Looks like one of those things that crawls along my fence at night causing my dogs to bark

Oh yeah, this is why I'm aboard

No more time to wander aimlessly through the corridors of the PoA.  According to tactical it looks as though we have been surrounded

Monday Summary Update & Musings...

The latest summary for your viewing pleasure. Since the last update I've acquired a Specialization! Okay, so I only had two that I could choose from so I opted for the Wetwork specialization. Apparently the term "wetwork" refers to some kind of bloody mess left behind after a stealthy assassination kill. Nothing out of the ordinary has taken place out on the missions. Well, I got to jump through a worm-hole which sent me hurling across the galaxy only to come crashing down out of the sky into the middle of an intense fire fight. I seem to be placing in the top two with more frequency but no matter if I make 50 kills with 1 death or 1 kill with 50 deaths I seem to be given the same amount of XP... so...

Now for some random musings:  Does anyone know why Dr. Catherine Halsey, the mother of Cortana and the key brain behind the Spartan Mjolnir program was escorted into the room in handcuffs?  Was it due to her questionable ethics?

Reach revisted

Visited Reach just for kicks... Kicked a little Alien Butt, rode around in a vehicle... Had a blast.

Level 40

Reached level 40 today!  Just ten more to go and I can select a Specialization.  The last few missions were a little rough as I was joined with less than honorable teammates.  One mission a couple of the members sat and did absolutely nothing the entire time which forced me and another Spartan to handle the entire load.  We did a good job but it caused the mission to last twice as long as it normally would.  The final mission that put me over 40 had a member who thought it a good idea to sit in a gun turret and pick off his teammates.  Despite these hinderances I got through it all in good form and am now headed down the homestretch toward 50...

All I have to say about those people who don't participate within the spirit of the game is:  Not very Mjolnir of them...  :)

Nice to have...

This is a massive book!  It's over 404 pages, I say "over" because it has 404 official Halo 4 pages that pertain to the game structure, strategy etc.  And additional pages advertising Halo gear and misc. etc.  Excellent!

The inside cover of this hardbound book is very professional looking with the UNSC logo... Did I mention this book smells real nice?  It does!

The Dry-Erase map cards.  I don't forsee myself actually using these, but they're still cool to have.

UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!

I'm sorta proud of this medal I won today while playing Spartan Co-Op.  The Unfriggenbelievable medal for killing 40 opponents without dying!

Specializations - Rogue

In the game of Halo 4 once you reach level 50 you are then able to seek what is known as a "Specialization".  A Specialization is simply a set of Armor with unique enhancements that benefit a particular style of play.  One such Specialization that I'm considering to make my own is that of Rogue.  The Rogue is a Loner.  A solo warrior who has been dropped off on some hostile backwater planet in order to fulfill a thankless mission.  A mission that could last months, perhaps even years.  Since my style of play is already "Rogue" and heavy on the Sniper trade, the Rogue will be a perfect fit for me once I'm able to acquire its Specialization.

DESIGNATION: MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor System [GEN2] – ROGUE
MANUFACTURER: Hannibal Weapon Systems
TESTING SITE: Kotka, Pori – NEW CARTHAGE
ROGUE-class armor was originally manufactured by the Vestol Corporation located on Tribute, but the razing of Epsilon Eridani by the Covenant in 2552 allowed Hannibal Weapon Systems take over of the armor’s production three years later.

Weekly Summaries

Above is the weekly update for my progress in Spartan Ops 11/19/2012 - Monday
I'm becoming much more proficient with my killing and use of weapons out on the battlefield.

Since I'm new to blogging and can't think my way out of a paper bag anyway... I came up with an idea.  (yeah, that made a lot of sense)  Once every week I'll post a summary of my progress in Halo 4 Spartan Ops.  The most recent snapshot of progress being on top.  (From now on I'll try to make this an every Monday type of update or until I forget, which is likely)

Map change & level up!

I didn't go out on Halo 4 yesterday so I don't know exactly when the change took place but at any rate when I signed on today I was pleasantly surprised to find a whole bunch of new maps!  For the most part I ran around shooting myself in the foot and falling over ledges into bottomless pits.  But despite all of that I managed to work my way to level 30.

SWARTHOS K074 now level SR 30 and ready for duty.

Haven't changed my loadouts in a couple days as I'm still not sure what my best Primary weapon should be.  I know this will sound stupid but I'd really like to tryout a couple of the enemies weapons... but I feel as though I should be using strictly human engineered gear... I know, it's just a game and everything in it was designed by humans, however I like to pretend that I'm really there using stuff developed and tested by our side.

- Meanwhile in the real world.... I think I might want a Halo vanity plate for my car now... or at least a cool decal on my window showing that I'm in the service.

Made it to SR 27

Been leveling pretty good when I play.  Currently sitting at level SR 27

Campaign Progression - Forerunner Planet

I've finally fought my way inside the interior of the Forerunner planet where I've had a chance to engage in combat for the first time with various types of Knights, Crawlers and Watchers.  So far the Covenant has offered more resistance than these foes have, but I suppose all that could soon change.

Here I am with Cortana as we access the sub-structures controls
Once activated, Cortana was able to to establish Vortex Portal
This is me contemplating my next move
That's an ominous looking portal!  Nothing to do now but jump on in and see where it takes me.  Just like in the movie Sliders!

Ahhh... A strange and exotic underground world!  But what dangers await me here?

Edit:  I should mention for the sake of all the non Halo players reading this Blog.  Cortana is a computer program that resides inside a microchip that somehow links with my brain when inserted into a port located in my helmet.  (at least that's what I've come to believe... I don't know that much about Halo, don't read the books or watch any of the fan-fiction movies.  I just play as if I was some bum they dragged off the streets and recruited into their army)  I don't even know what Noble means, a term I keep seeing that I think relates to the outfit I'm part of.  Man, this is great!

My first co-op win!

After observing others play this mission I decided it would be a good idea to approach it differently than I have been.  This time I adjusted my loadout so that I would have a high powered sniper rifle as my primary.  Once the action began I positioned myself far back in a secure location and just started shooting at the enemy's heads.  At least this time it worked out very well for me!

The Fighting Chicken did good!

Missions Update

Had some good missions early on this morning and I'm doing well to complete all my weekly challenges.  All that remains are Core Legend and Episode Of Legend and I will have met all the challenges

My Summary is also looking good this day.  As of this entry I seem to be progressing well.

While playing a game of Sniper Alley I happened to team up with STURMJAEGER.  Obviously a very seriously minded Halo player... Check out his mission stats!  49 Kills and 0 Deaths.  42 of those 49 kills were headshots.  Was he sniping from a distance with a high powered weapon?

Here's my best mission to date.  However mine was during a 2 player co-op with a player of comparable skill

Introduction

I've been a casual Halo player since it first came out on the Xbox.  I'm not the greatest player, in fact I often struggle to stay alive or make a kill out on the battlefield.  While I have seen some improvement over the years I'm hardly among the ranks of the elite.  What I do excel at however is having fun and that's the main reason I've been a gamer in general since the late 70s.  This blogger I've created which will chronicalize my time playing Halo, not just Halo 4 but all Halo games, is exactly for that reason, having fun.
